August 2025: A Fond Farewell to Our Manager Mark: A Decade of Dedication at Castlerigg Hall.
Updated 27th Oct: We are delighted to announce Mark has returned to his previous role.
At Castlerigg Hall Caravan, Camping & Glamping Park, nestled in the heart of the Lake District, we recently marked the end of a very special chapter. After 10 dedicated years, we said a fond farewell to our wonderful manager, Mark, who has been an integral part of our team—and our family.
Mark first joined us as a receptionist, quickly becoming a familiar, friendly face to our guests. His natural warmth, professionalism, and commitment to customer service excellence soon saw him rise through the ranks to become manager—a role he filled with passion, care, and an unwavering dedication to ensuring that every guest’s stay was nothing short of memorable.
As an award-winning, family-run holiday park, we pride ourselves on delivering a personal touch, and Mark embodied this in everything he did. From welcoming new visitors to going the extra mile for returning guests, his presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Celebrating a Remarkable Journey
We recently hosted a small leaving party in the Castlerigg Gallery, where team members and family gathered to express their appreciation. Mark received thoughtful gifts and cards, including a bespoke photo book filled with highlights from his time at Castlerigg Hall. It was a wonderful reminder of the diverse and meaningful contributions he has made over the years.
Among his many achievements, Mark assisted with:
- Promoting sustainable travel through initiatives like the Twizy electric car programme
- Helping care for our park animals, creating a welcoming, nature-friendly environment
- Being part of team Castlerigg Hall in the Keswick Tourism Association’s Annual Santa Race on Derwentwater
- Attending industry events and exhibitions including the Manchester Caravan Show
- Helping judge our sponsored category at Keswick Scruffs Dog Show
- Supporting charity and environmental causes, from red squirrel conservation to raising funds for the Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Path reinstatement
- Welcoming many TV personalities and celebrities to the park including:
- Julia Bradbury (writer & broadcaster)
- Ricky Tomlinson & Ralf Little (The Royle Family)
- Colin Baker (Doctor Who)
- Todd Carty, Tony Blackburn, Sonya, Jon Richardson, Lucy Beaumont, and Cherrie Hewson

Recognised for Excellence
Earlier this year, Mark was honoured with an Exceptional Service Award from Debbie Walker, Director General of the British Holiday and Home Park Association, in recognition of his commitment to quality, sustainability, and the guest experience here at Castlerigg Hall.
As a member of the team, Mark wasn’t just a colleague—he became part of our extended family. We shared meals, celebrated milestones, and worked together toward a common vision: making Castlerigg Hall one of the UK’s most eco-friendly holiday parks.
His passion for sustainability helped us reduce waste, support local producers, and champion environmental causes—efforts that culminated in our proud win of the 2025 Cumbria Tourism Award for Regenerative Tourism.

Wishing Mark the Very Best
While we will deeply miss Mark’s presence here at Castlerigg Hall, we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and heart he gave to our park and our guests. His legacy will continue to influence how we welcome visitors, care for the environment, and uphold the high standards of service we’re known for.
We wish Mark every success in his new role and are confident that wherever his journey takes him, he will continue to make a positive difference—just as he did here.
Thank you, Mark, from all of us at Castlerigg Hall. You will always be part of our story.
