“CUMBRIA TOURISM AWARDS 2009
At the annual Cumbria Tourism Awards, which recognise and reward the best of Cumbria’s tourism industry, the Holiday Park of the Year category was won by Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park, Keswick, which was shortlisted at last year’s awards.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Castle Green Hotel, Kendal on Wednesday evening, 6 May, when hundreds of tourism professionals and businesses from around the county gathered to hear the winners announced by actor and broadcaster, Ted Robbins.
Each category winner received a certificate and specially designed award, individually handcrafted by Jonathan Stamper at HighHead Sculpture Valley. Seven of the awards were dedicated to employees working within the tourism industry and these successful individuals each received a cheque for £200 in addition to the engraved award.
The awards are supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) and the majority of winners from the business categories will now go forward to represent Cumbria in the England’s Northwest Tourism Awards later this year.
Castlerigg Hall Caravan and Camping Park is owned by David and Jill Jackson, who last year also received an award from the Tourism and Conservation Partnership in recognition of their conservation work on the site, which they have turned into a haven for wildlife…”
