Charity Work
Charity work
Over the years we have supported many charities and local good causes. In recent years we have been delighted to help with the following fund raising appeals.
Toilet Twinning
Currently, 3.5 billion people lack access to safely managed sanitation, and around 2 billion people worldwide are without access to safely managed drinking water. This exposes them to the contamination of water supplies, and the risk of diarrhoea and other diseases. 1,000 children die every day from diseases related to poor sanitation, unhealthy hygiene or unsafe drinking water.
Through sponsorship we have now twinned two of our park toilets. One in Nepal and one in South Sudan. By doing this we are helping transform lives by helping communities to get sustainable access to secure sanitation services and clean water, and practise healthy hygiene.

Thank you, we did it!
Fells for our Fathers
Castlerigg Hall owner David Jackson and friend Daniel Holder lost their fathers to cancer. Daniel when he was only 16 and David when he was 22 and in their memory have decided that in 2024 they should try to raise money for charity and what better way than to try to complete all 214 Wainwright peaks in the year.
The Lake District Foundation
During the Autumn of 2002 we became a member of the Tourism and Conservation Partnership which evolved to Nurture Lakeland and has recently changed to The Lake District Foundation, an organisation dedicated to funding conservation through tourism.
Established in 1993 this organisation created a direct link which connects visitors, the tourism industry and other businesses with the conservation organisations that maintain the landscape and manage the impact of visitor pressure.
We are delighted to have the opportunity to help raise funding towards various conservation schemes through a voluntary £1 donation when making a booking at Castlerigg Hall. Over the past 11 years we have raised money to improve footpaths such as those up Walla Crag, Bleaberry Fell and Skiddaw.
Local Support
As part of the community we feel it is important to support local appeals. We have recently been able to help support the Keswick Red Squirrel Group, the local cricket teams, Keswick Museum, Keswick School, Keswick Alhambra, Keswick to Threlkeld railway footpath appeal, Lake District Pound, and we are Theatre by the Lake ambassadors.
In 2023 we became a corporate member of Cumbria Community Foundation.
